Appointments

Our Standard appointments are 15 minutes long. This compares with 5-10 minutes at many vets. We hope this will give clients time to ask questions, and feel comfortable with treatment options offered.

Prescriptions are available from this practice

You may obtain Prescription Medicines from us or ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another Veterinary Surgeon or a pharmacy. Our prescription fee is £20.00 including vat. Additional medication prescribed at the same time is charged at a reduced fee of £10.00 for each additional item on the prescription.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your cat is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. Where possible you will be informed of the price of any medicine that may be dispensed for your cat.

Repeat Prescriptions

The general policy of this practice is to re-assess a cat requiring repeat prescriptions every 3 months, but this may vary depending on the Veterinary Surgeons assessment. The standard charge for a re-examination is £59.00. Further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.

We require a minimum of 24 hours notice to fulfil a request for a repeat prescription. This is because we must check our records to ensure that the issuing of a repeat prescription complies with current regulations. It also provides us with an opportunity to check that the medication is still appropriate for your cat.

In an emergency we may be able to issue a repeat prescription sooner, subject to compliance with current regulations and the availability of the medication. This service is offered at our discretion.

Should you require a repeat prescription for your cat we request that you contact the clinic by telephone. This allows us to confirm your details and determine if your cat needs to be seen by us before a repeat prescription can be issued.

In Patient Care

Our clinic is open during the day and we aim to provide the highest quality care, procedures and treatments for our patients. However, due to our small team, we are unable to staff the clinic overnight, except in extenuating circumstances. In order to provide the best possible care, any patients requiring overnight treatment will need to be transferred to Ribble Vets unless the patient is too sick to travel. Ribble Vets will continue inpatient care and treatment with the consent of the owner.

Emergency Cover

Outside of our normal working hours emergency cover is provided by Ribble Vets in Penwortham. For further information and directions click here.

An emergency fee will be payable, in addition to any treatment received.

Cremation

As with any bereavement, the death of a much-loved feline friend can be an enormous loss to its owner and many bereaved owners want a way of remembering their cat once it has passed away. Pet crematoriums offer bereaved owners a range of services including individual cremation, communal cremation, burial of the ashes or the return of the ashes to the owner.

Here at Just Cats we offer support to bereaved owners and we can help you to make the decision about the type of crematorium service you would like for your cat.
